Traditional Papago Altars
The altar pictured above includes a mix of
traditional Mexican and Papago
influences.  The altar below is a
traditional Papago altar that might be set
up in a home to honor the departed.
Traditional Yaqui Altars
These altars featured traditional Yaqui artifacts, to
include plants and animals they consider sacred -
the deer, the eagle, and the mesquite tree.
This group of secondary school students built
this altar as an example and reminder of their
culture and traditions.
Remembering A Teacher
A group of students built this altar in
honor of their school principal, who
died earlier this year.

Pueblo Viejo Exhibits
The altars pictured here were on display
at the Art Exhibition Center across the
street from the Pueblo Viejo temple.  
These beautiful and fascinating
displays featured traditional Mexican
altars, including traditional artifacts from
regional Yaqui and Papago culture.
