Governor Bours Visits Caborca
Governor of the State of Sonora Ing. Eduardo Bours Castelo visited Caborca on October 24th with his wife Lourdes Laborín, to present his Third Regional Report (Tercer Informe Regional). Click here to see more photos.
Yamaha X-touring ATV event scheduled for November 16-18
More than 100 ATV riders will be racing through the desert from Caborca to Rocky Point in this event sanctioned by Yamaha.
State of Sonora suspends vehicle permits - The state of Sonora has placed the "Only Sonora" program on hold, and for the time being will no longer require vehicles traveling in the state to obtain a vehicle permit. This is great news! It means no more waiting in lines at Km 21 to get copies of documents, obtain permits, etc. However, you will still need to obtain a tourist permit at Km 21.
Sonora opens four traffic lanes on route 2 between Santa Ana and Altar - In the culmination of several years of work, the majority of highway between Santa Ana and Altar has been expanded so that it now has two lanes of traffic in each direction. The highway is in great condition - however, it is now a toll road. If planning to take the new highway you will need to pay 50 pesos (about five dollars) for cars and (amount) for larger vehicles. The toll booths are located about 40 kilometers west of Santa Ana.
Construction on 6 de Abril Plaza Nears Completion
The downtown plaza was closed in March for renovation, and now has a new bandstand, benches and other improvements. Another good place to relax is the Quiroz y Mora plaza.
