The pueblo of Trincheras, Sonora is located near the Federal Highway 2 between
Santa Ana and Altar.
About a mile west of the highway toll booths, the road to Trincheras is marked by a
bus stop, pictured at right. Turn on that road, drive a few miles, and you'll be in
Trincheras.
Trincheras has a rich history and culture, including a terraced hill that is an
archaeological treasure made hundreds of years ago by primitive cultures,
apparently for defense. It was also home to 1850's historical figure Joaquin Murrieta.
