Summertime in Caborca
Summertime in Caborca's desert environment is extremely hot
(temperatures are typically over 110 degrees F nearly every day).  Also,
schools are out for vacation, so whoever can get out of Caborca, does.

There is a festival (the
Vendimia) to celebrate the grape harvest,
although to-date it has been more of a local event (dances with local
bands, etc.) than a tourist event.  Also, elections are typically held in
July, and this year is no exception.  On July 2nd voters selected their
next president, as well as several local officials such as
Presidente
Municipal
(mayor) and Diputados Locales (city council members)

As occurs in southern Arizona (Tucson and Phoenix), Caborca also
has a monsoon season, generally starting in late June and lasting
through August or September.  During this time, late afternoon storm
cells develop that cause brief wind storms and thunderstorms.  There
has been precious little rain this year, most of the storms have turned
out to be dust storms.

Despite the heat and occasional summer storms though, Caborca is
still bustling.  If you don't mind the heat, this is the best time of year to
get a deal on a
hotel and relax in a refreshing swimming pool.
Caborca produces some of the highest quality table grapes in the world.
The summer is also when elections are held (in July).
