| Puerto Lobos, Sonora |
| South Bay North Bay Playa Blanca San Lorenzo The small beachside community of Puerto Lobos, Sonora has no modern amenities like running water or electricity, just the natural environs of the Sea of Cortez coast. Its residents are a mix of native Mexican residents and northerners who enjoy the simple life there. But the town's days as an isolated beach getaway appear to be numbered. The Sonoran coastal highway will reach this isolated location in March or April of 2010, and development is sure to follow. I had the privilege of visiting Puerto Lobos in December of 2009 as a guest of Architect Hector Arrizon Salgado, who is the owner of the Hotel Casa Blanca in Caborca. Architect Salgado has also served in various positions of municipal government leadership over the years, to include serving as the director of public works. Also accompanying us on the trip was Mr. Carl Sparfeld, from the Green Valley Camera Club. I hope that you enjoy these photos. They are truly a snapshot in history, as this beach community will surely evolve to become a popular tourist destination. |
