Fall Events
Back to school - a Caborca kindergarten class
Fall brings a break to the 100+ degree temperatures, and even though it may not dip
below the 90's during the day it feels much cooler because monsoon season has
ended and the dry desert air has returned.  Schoolchildren return to classes, and life
returns to normal.

Following are some events celebrated in Caborca every Fall:

15th and 16th of September - The festival de las patrias, celebrates Mexican
Independence Day.  On the eve of the 15th, citizens gather at
Pueblo Viejo to hear
the
Presidente Municipal (mayor) shout the grita de independencia - Viva Mexico!
Festivities continue on the 16th.

October 12th - Día de la Raza

October 24th - United Nations Day, celebrated by kindergarten students, who dress
up in international themes and have a parade down Avenida 6 de Abril to Pueblo Viejo.

November 1st - All Saints' Day.

November 2nd - Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is an important Mexican
holiday to honor the departed.  The holiday represents a synthesis between native
indigenous beliefs and modern Christianity.  Throughout Mexico, people go to
Panteones (cemeteries) to visit and decorate the graves of their loved ones.

November 3rd-18th - The festival of San Diego del Alcala in Pitiquito

November 20th - Mexican Revolution Day - celebrates the Mexican Revolution of
1910.
