Pitiquito.

The small fishing village of
Desemboque (also part of Caborca) on the coast of the Sea of
Cortez is less than an hour's drive away.
Take a hiking tour to view ancient petroglyphs

View the fascinating stone etchings made thousands of years ago by the ancient
inhabitants.  Tours can be arranged through the Caborca Office of Conventions and
Visitors (
OCV Caborca), or with one of several companies offering tours that of the area
that originate in the United States.  Tour information can also be obtained at the front
desk of
Motel El Camino.
Visit historic Pueblo Viejo

This is a must-see for any visitor to Caborca.
The church is on the site of the mission
La
Purísima Concepción de Nuestra Señora de
Caborca, established in 1693 by Jesuit Priest
Eusebio Kino.  In addition to being a religious
center for the community over the years,
Pueblo Viejo has also been the site of
burnings and violence, to include a battle for
the city fought in 1857 as residents defended
the town against a group of American
aggressors.

Relax in the plaza

A common pastime for the older citizens of Caborca is to
spend time relaxing and socializing in the city plaza, across
the street from one of the city's larger Catholic churches,
the church of La Candalaria.  Oftentimes vendors from
various parts of Mexico come to sell their goods here.

faith and gratitude to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

and activities.
Go shopping

Although many of the stores in the downtown area are geared toward local consumers,
there are several that sell a variety of Mexican tourist goods.
Treasures are here to be
found, if you know where to look.

Enjoy a cup of coffee at a local café

Caborca has several small, modern cafés that offer cakes, pastries (and often artwork
from local artists), and of course a rich cup of coffee.

Watch a parade or other special event

If you time your visit to coincide with one of the city's many celebratory events, you will
have the chance to view a parade, fireworks, or participate in a festival.  Oftentimes the
events also include visitors from other parts of Mexico who sell a variety of arts and
crafts.

Catch a baseball game

From June to the first week of August, go to the municipal stadium and watch the
Caborca Rojos play against one of the other minor league teams in their division.

Take a drive to Pitiquito

The pueblo of Pitiquito is a short drive from Caborca, and well worth the trip.  Pitiquito
has one of the world's finest
leather works and showroom, featuring a variety of leather
goods.  Pitiquito also has a lovely Kino mission church.
